Pekka Honkanen
As a Non-Executive Director of the CYBER1 Group, Pekka possesses a broad range of experiences and capabilities as a senior executive across over fifteen companies, with a proven track record operating successfully within the financial services and cyber security industries. With a strong background in Risk Management, Electronic Payments, Payment Systems, Banking, and E-commerce, Pekka has contributed to CYBER1’s advancement of internal processes and the company’s approach to its operations, most notably in the Group’s overall corporate governance approach. Prior to joining CYBER1, Pekka has worked across a number of senior positions across EMEA, for example as Senior Vice President at Visa and other notable companies, working from vision to execution on key strategic projects and initiatives with a strong focus on evolving regulations, predominantly in retail banking and payments in Europe and globally. In addition, Pekka has served in senior advisor roles across the European financial services sector, including Senior advisor Chairman of Trade Bank of Iraq, TSYS (Part of Global Payments), Entercard (JV of Barclays and Swedbank), Board Director and MD of IKANO Finance Finland Ltd, Chairman of Silverskin information Security Oy, Board Director St1 Finance Ltd, a number of senior roles at OP Financial Group, including SVP for International Relationships and Board Directorship in a number of domestic and international group companies.
In addition to his duties as Non-Executive Director of the CYBER1 Board, Pekka also serves as a member of all of the Group sub committees (CYBER1 – Finance Sub-Committee, Audit and Governance Committee and the Remuneration Committee) The Finance Committee is responsible for expansion plans and financial analysis, to drive commercial decisions for the business. The Audit & Governance Subcommittee, which is responsible for ensuring the company and its subsidiaries comply with the statutory obligations and reviewing and improving internal controls of the company. The Finance Committee, is responsible for setting the rewards structures for the executive team and remuneration structures within the group.
